Subject: Zophar Carpenter (abt.1733-1798)

On Roots Web Zophar is listed as serving in the Rev. War. I have found no credible source for his having done so. Summers, in his Annals of Southwest Virginia, lists him as being a drummer in the Rev. War. This is hardly so since he was a drummer in the French and Indian Wars, which is documented. There is reference to his providing a beef, etc. but no mention of which war. If so, that would name him a patriot, but there is no proof. I say this as the statement of his serving is directly under my name and address, and I don't believe I have ever alluded to his so serving. Also note my address change

Thanks for reading this,

Gerald Tudor
