I've been lurking here for a while and haven't posted on "my"
Carpenter yet. Mine is Mary Carpenter born June 3, 1806 in Norwich,
New London, CT. She married Nathaniel B. Adams of Lisbon, New London,
CT on September 13, 1831. They moved to Green Springs, Seneca Co., OH
and then Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. She outlived her daughter (Mary
Elizabeth Adams) and her husband, dying in Holgate, Henry Co., OH on
October 10, 1891.

The IGI has Alfred Carpenter b. abt. 1766 (of Ashford, Windham, Ct)
and Elizabeth Jay as her parents. The Ancestral File has Alfred
Carpenter traced back to William of Rehoboth:

William Carpenter
Joseph Carpenter b. 1628
Benjamin Carpenter b. 1658
Benjamin Carpenter b. 1680
Uriah Carpenter b. 1711
Hezikiah Carpenter b. 1736
Alfred Carpenter b. 1766
Mary Carpenter b. 1806

I don't completely trust the Ancestral File, I've seen glaring errors
there so I thought that I'd ask how much anyone here can verify of
this....I believe I've seen from William to the second Benjamin on a
website, but Carpenters get spread pretty thin after that...they all
had so many children. I am working from the bottom up, myself, and
have sent to Norwich for a birth record, but any clues or tips would
be welcome. I know there's some books, but I haven't got them yet.
I'm just starting on this side of the family.

Thanks,
