Hello
Can anyone tell me who the parents were of Mary CARPENTER, who was born
22 mar, 1723 and md in Newbury Jan 22, 1722/23 Daniel CHASE?
This Mary and Daniel Chase had two children before Mary's death about
1725:
Mary, b. Mar 22, 1723
Judah b. Nov 22, 1724.
Daniel md, 2nd, Eliz. COLLINS of Salisbury, (probably widow of John
Collins of Salisbury).
I believe the child, Mary, born in 1723 in an ancestral grandmother who
has eluded researchers for untold years. I've spent two decades pinning her
down and now a lot of evidence to believe this is the same Mary. If this
Mary CARPENTER's family raised little Mary, rather than her father and his
2nd wife, it would go a long way to explaining why she fell through the
cracks in all the Chase genealogies. I know nothing more of Judah, the
sibling, either.
I would like to know who Mary Carpenter's parents were? It appears that
many of the early Mass. Carpenter families were from Rehoboth and I wonder
if her line is related to them? Were any of the Carpenter families Quakers?
I think 'my' Mary Chase, born abt 1723, became a Quaker. She md, 1st,
Daniel THURSTON, who died between 1737-1747 and md 2nd, Richard WHITTIER.
Thanks so much for any information on this issue. Regards, Carol Ashby
