Dear Mr. Carpenter,

In reply to your inquiry I regret that a search of municipal filings
occurring for Coventry township failed to yield any documentation for an
individual by this name and approximate birth date. In fact, no record of a
Benjamin Carpenter being born, marrying, having children and/or dying in
Coventry prior to 1850. Please note: mandatory reporting of vital records
did not exist in Rhode Island until 1853. Prior to that date the majority
of births, marriages and deaths were only documented with local churches or
in family bibles. The event you seek either occurred outside of Rhode
Island (CT / MA?) or it was never reported to local officials.

Note: searching other Kent County municipalities I find the following vital
registrations for a an individual by this name:

Carpenter, Benjamin, of Timothy & Lojia (Matteson), born Aug. 27, 1760, West
Greenwich
Carpenter, Benjamin, of Benjamin & Eleanor (Olin), born Oct. 15, 1759, East
Greenwich
Carpenter, Benjamin, of Oliver & Sarah, born OCt. 5, 1719, East Greenwich
Carpenter, Benjamin, of Wilbour to Mary Burke, married Aug. 29, 1790,
Warwick
