I just could not resist!

I am seeking information on my husband's greatgrandmother. She was
Elizabeth Carpenter (ALWAYS called Betty Jane). She lived in the Wilkes,
Mitchell county area of NC and was born about 1869. Her father was named
Ervin Carpenter b 1844 and son of David and Mira Gragg Carpenter. I have
never been able to determine her mother who I believe may have been
Cherokee. She had several children that carried the surname Carpenter
before she married George Barrier in about 1900. She is my high high brick
wall! Well, her parents are anyway
