The following transcription was sent to me by Winona Walters whom, if I remember correctly descends from both Alexander's son John Carrico b. ca 1804 MD through his granddaughter Susan Fields and also through John's 2nd wife Mary Ellen Queen through her son Thomas Edward Burch from her 1st marriage. I'm relying on memory due to loss of my database in Dec.
It was in the 1970's or 1980's that she found this will in the basement of the old courthouse in Martin Co., IN. At the time, she did not have access to a copying machine, but had a tape recorder with her & read the will into the recorder to later transcribe. As I understand, the old courthouse has recently been sold to the Martin Co. Historical Society who will try to go through the boxes in the basement, not only to preserve them, but make them available to the public. Once this is complete, & I am able to obtain copies of this will & any other probate records, I will post corrections/additions at that time.
The following is what Winona transcribed. She has given me permission to share this with you. More comments to follow.
LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN A. CARRICO
I, John A. Carrico, of Brown Township of Martin Co., State of Indiana, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.
First, I direct that my body be decently interred and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate in life and as to such estate, as it has pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same in the following manner to-wit:

Carrico, to have all my personal estate, such as cattle and hogs, and horses, sheep, household and kitchen furniture
and money on hand and 38 acres of land for which I have made a Deed in fee simple as anheir, tooo-wit: The nwc of the NWQ of Sec., 20, in 74 N of Range SW, with the exception of 2 acres for the use of Chapel for which I have made a deed in fee simple to the Catholic Church and also that Anna Carrico
be my executrix of my last will and Testament in witness whereof John A. Carrico that testator has herewith set my hand and seal this 27th day of Dec., A.D., 1833, Signed, John A. Carrico.

Recorded 1836 or 1856, couldn't read.
Winona states she couldn't read the date of probate, but John A. AKA Alexander Carrico was residing in Martin Co., IN coming from Casey Co., KY. On Oct. 1 1852 he obtained a patent for 40 acres in the NW quarter of Sec. 20 in Martin Co., IN. This is the same land mentioned in his will, and therefore the date of the will would read 1853 & probate 1856, since he did not live in Martin Co., IN as early as 1833 & was still alive in 1850.
His daughter Anna, the only child named in his will, was also known as Nancy. She was the eldest child, born ca 1800. Never married. Following her father's death, she resided in 1860 with her unmarried brother Alexis. Following his death in 1869, she is found with her brother Henry C. Carrico in Daviess Co., KY, & by 1880 back in Martin Co., IN with her widowed sister Elizabeth Miles. I don't know when or where she died, many of the Martin Co. ancestors of Alexander & Mary moved to IL following the 1880 census. Her death doesn't appear in the published death records for IN.
