Highlights:
Harry Russell SAUNDERS was born in Solano County CA on Sept 8 1848, the son
of Ira J. and Mary (BAKER) SAUNDERS, the former a native of NY and the
latter of Michigan.
The father made three trips to CA, first crossing the plains with an ox team
and wagon in 1848, when such a journey was fraught with hardship and danger.
mother died in CA in 1876 and the father returned to Branch County MI where
he died in 1902.
In 1909, Harry entered the field of public service as deputy county clerk
and in 1910 was elected county clerk where he continued for 20 years.
He married Miss Grace M. STONE in 1894, she was a native of KS and the
daughter of Lyman George STONE and his wife, Martha.
Harry and Grace had two daughters and a son:
Alice Mildred (Mrs. Frank L. HOLLINGSWORTH)
Harry B. - Woodland (Baird SAUNDERS)
Yolo - studying in the local high school (Mrs. Yolo BARSTOW)
