Correction to the below list for Postmaster of Ashland:

C.L. (Christian Ludwig) ECKLON, not C.K. ECKLOW.
At the time that he was the postmaster for Ashland, he also owned the
suspension bridge that eventually fell in the 1890s (and that was replaced
by the steel and girder bridge recently brought back to Folsom for the
American River trail next to the Rainbow Bridge).
