Greetings! Are there any San Diego sports researchers combing this website, or even better, ones interested in boxing. I am a doctoral history student researching a dissertation on professional boxing and am stumped trying to find the date of a fight that happened in San Diego in June of 1969. Former heavyweight contender Jimmy Young began his pro career with a bout in SD against an opponent named Jimmy Gilmore, but no one has ever ascertained on what date this June bout took place. It was only 32 years ago, so there has to be someone into boxing who has a lead or insight, who remembers where the fight took place, perhaps someone with a program or ticket stub? Anyone with any suggestion as to how to hone in on this missing info would be a real friend. Thanks! Andrew Lindsay U of Toledo
