Hi all;
This is going to be a weekly event as several people, both workers on the
project and list members, have asked that I keep them updated on what is
happening with the project. We are moving along rapidly so I thought weekly
would be good timing for an update.

WE STILL NEED DONATIONS. Yes, this project is still working in the red. All
funds are being used for copies and postage only and we need your help if
you can offer it. Donations can be sent to me at the address at the end of
this email. Anyone questioning accounting can request an itemization if
they so desire and have contributed to the cause.

VOLUNTEERS. We are currently working with almost 50 transcriptionists and
we are rapidly progressing. Do we need more, YES!!! The more the merrier
and the sooner that we will get these indexes on line. Email me if you have
Excel and are interested in helping. This is something you can do at home
on your own computer.

Our progress is going along really well. Here is what is happening on a per
county basis. We are currently working on death indexes.

SAN DIEGO - We have 4 more batches to come in and then we will be able to
get San Diego county online.

SAN BERNARDINO - We have almost half of the San Bernardino batches in, and
all have been distributed.

RIVERSIDE - All distributed for transcription and expecting the first batch
to get in any day now.

LOS ANGELES - There are 6 books in this category. We are currently
distributing book #5 and #6 is a small one. We already have access to Book
#6 so it is just a matter of distribute and transcribe.

MARIPOSA - Steven Miller has been working on these records for some time
and expects to finish by Easter. He is working on 1850-1940 and will be
donating 1850-1905 to the website. Thank you Steve.

SISKIYOU - Laura Melton, my right hand, is working on accumulating and
transcribing this county. Thank you Laura.

KLAMATH - Laura Melton is also going to be transcribing this county. It is
a small amount of records and the county no longer exists, but the records
are still important to us. Thank you Laura.

KERN - Sharon Dulcich is currently accessing these records for us so that
they can be transcribed. Thank you Sharon

TULARE - We are currently attempting to acquire copies of these records.
Elvina Fernandez is accumulating transcribers from the Tulare County
genealogical society to work on these in exchange for copies of the records
for them. Thank you Elvina.

CITY OF OAKLAND - George Rushton is currently working on these records. He
is accumulating and transcribing. Thank you George.

BUTTE - Carol Stewart has gotten access to these records and is currently
transcribing as fast as her little fingers will go. She is doing a great
job. Thank you Carol.

COLUSA - Records are ordered and we should have them soon to distribute for
transcription.

HUMBOLDT - Records are ordered and we should have them soon to distribute
for transcription.

NEVADA - Records are ordered and we should have them soon to distribute for
transcription.

MARIN - Records are on their way and will be ready for transcription soon.

AMADOR - Records are ordered and we should have them soon to distribute for
transcription.

NAPA - Sharon Bookmyer is working on possible access to these records.

SACRAMENTO - Beverly Stone is currently working on access to the records
for this county. Thank you Beverly.
