Hi Dawn - According to the California Death Index (CDI) the information you have posted regarding both Jessie SHERK and his sister Laura (nee SHERK) STILLWELL is correct save for the fact that their respective informants stated the maiden name of the their mother was SMITH instead of SMYTH. Laura also had no SSN noted in her public record, but her brother Jessie did. His SSN is 572-03-6638. The SSN is important because if you choose to spend $27 the SSA will sell you a copy of his SSA application which often contains valuable genealogical information. The price is outrageous of course, but when you have a monopoly on public records there is little choice.

I also found the two death records for their parents in a early version of the CDI which is generally not readily available to the public. According to the CDI one Jonathan SHERK, whose spouses initials are "M.A.", died at age 69 in San Diego County on December 9th, 1916. The death certificate registered with the state is number 40061 OR 40081 (hard to read).

The other record is for one Mary A. SHERK, spouses initials "J.", died at age 81 in San Diego County on August 10th, 1927. The death certificate number is 41779.

Using the death certificate numbers you can contact the State of California and purchase a copy of the death certificate and you can also contact the main branch of the San Diego City Library and see if an obituary was published within several days of their deaths.

Good luck.
