Subject: [CASANFRA-L] How to track down proprietor of a 'boarding house'
Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 15:46:39 -0700

I have a great-aunt Agnes (Doyle) Sagar (born 1886) who reportedly
ran a boarding house in San Francisco. Family lore has it she
really ran a brothel, and apparently a successful one as "she was
always well-dressed."

Is there a way to research this story beyond the usual searching for
her name in early-century Censuses and searching city archives for
boarding-house businesses? If not, what [official] business would I
look for?

Thanks,
-Ron
