The 1881 SF Municipal Reports has a good history of schools up to that
date... location... size... courses etc.
So If anyone needs that type of info drop a line.
Byways
In addition to the regular schools in 1881, SF had a Boys' High School,
and a Girl's High, which was a normal school for teachers.
"In 1872 and 1873 instruction in the French and German languages was
introduced in nearly all public schools. The little children of he
primary schools, as well as the larger ones in the grammar schools were
compelled to study either German or French."
