Kathy,

The Civic Center Library does NOT have the NDGW Pioneers Roster but you may
find an SF pioneer in the SF History Center (http://206.14.7.53/sfhistory/)on
the top floor of the library. Note carefully their hours and days. The roster
is available at the Sutro Library in SF down by Stonestown & SFSU. That's
another day though.

The SF History Center has at least one photo of the So. of Market St. Boys and
you may order copies for a reasonable fee. The cost depends on if there is a
negative or not. They have a card file that will likely have references to
them. Ask the History Center Librarian for help. They're the best!

You need to go to City Hall for Marriage info (Front door, first right). You
can search the index for yourself, then order the docs. The Health Dept. only
has birth & death records. You will always find a linde there. Better to call
in and use a credit card or FAX the state. They're swamped!

Divorce records should be at the San Francisco Superior Court at the Civic
Center (http://www.ci.sf.ca.us/courts/index.htm). They also have Probates on
microfilm from 1906-date and you can order copies. But, it takes two days to
get them pulled from archives to view. If you buy any, be SURE to pay to have
them mailed.

The important thing is to allow time and be very patient. Also, kindness goes
a long way, especially at the Superior Court where they are extremely
harried. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You will get it anywhere there at
Civic Center.

Go to Pam's SF GenWeb at http://www.sfo.com/~timandpamwolf/sfrancty.htm
for tips on Library & Civic Center research. Click on TIPS and read all about
the library. Lots of things to review. There is so much available there,
you'll kick yourself if you don't read up first.

Use the Civic Center Parking Garage. The court, Health dept., Library and
Recorder are all within a block or two radius. Take 101 North on Van Ness to
McAllister. Right on McAllister, cross Polk and the garage is a downramp on
your right going under Civic Center Plaza. It cost $9.00 for 9:30 to 4:30.

Good luck,
Jim
