For SF obits try writing San Francisco Public Library at 5th Floor Newspaper
Center, Larkin and Grove Streets, San Francisco, CA 94102 enclosing $1.25
per obit and return stamped envelope.
Have you visited this site? It is an index of all the names in the CA
county biographies published and available at the CA Room of the state
library. There's a search feature and it tells you how to order copies if
you find one of your names.

Subject: [CASANFRA] Re: McBEAN
I have had numerous help notes on the McBEAN family of San Francisco
and would like to thank you all.
I have now learned, that according to the 1906 Directory - Atholl McBean
was the Secretary of Gladding-McBean Pottery Co., and his father, Peter
McBean was the President.
I have also learned that Atholl McBean was born Feb 11, 1879 and died
Dec, 1968 in San Francisco. Not sure where he was born, as I am not
sure when his family moved from Lancaster, Ontario.
What I now need to know is - are any of the San Francisco Newspapers
indexed?
How do I get to look at the census for San Francisco? Would these be
available through the Family History Centre?
Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Kathy Witheridge
