Francisco City and County Directories, except for the on 1859 Sacramento
Directory. As I had stated before, the name Phelan is very common in San
Francisco

Phelan, G. J, physician and surgeon, office 4th bet J & K, res. 10th bet G &
H, married. Oddly, no place of origin listed, although most on the page
did. Note: he was also the President of the Sacramento Board of Education
in that year.
