Subject: [CASANFRA] Panorama of San Francisco

At the Union Bank of California at 300 California,
they have a Panorama of San Francisco, circa 1870 is
painted in tempera and casein. Measuring 15 ft. wide
x 9 ft. high. In this Panorama, the viewpoint is from
the outskirts of the Mission area looking toward the
industrialized and prosperous City by the Bay. In the
foreground is the Jewish cemeteries: Nevai Shalome
(Peaceful Abode) and Gibboth Olam (Hills of Eternity).
Located at Church and 20th Streets (today's Mission
Dolores Park). Also shown is Laguna de Manantial
(Lake Dolores), with the Selby Shot Tower, located at
First and Mission and Howard, was erected in 1864
Thomas Selby, who was the tenth mayor of San Francisco
(1869-71) and who had to sent his wife to Paris during
the Civil War, for she got into a fight with Starr
King, for she was for the South.
