There is almost certainly no connection between St.
Mary Star of the Sea parish in Gualala,
Mendocino(http://www.mcn.org/1/aloysius/MARYSTAR.HTML)
and in San Francisco
(http://www.sfarchdiocese.org/parishes/starofthesea.html),
apart from their both being Roman Catholic. It is a
popular parish name in coastal towns and you can find
Star of the Sea RC churches in Sausalito, Alviso, San
Pedro, and elsewhere.
