Hi Francisco,

I don't find who the street was named after (in any of my SF books).

I do find reference to JAMES DE LONG who was elected Assistant Alderman for
the City of San Francisco - election was on November 2 1852. This reference
is in THE ANNALS OF SAN FRANCISCO, originally published 1855.

I have a paperback edition which was published in 1999. ISBN
1-893163-08-3.. This edition has a complete index!! Perhaps you can find
this book in your library

ALSO.... if you go here

http://www.sfo.com/~timandpamwolf/sfrancty.htm

select "HISTORY" for menu on left - then select second item on this list
(San Francisco History 23 Sept Another "must-see" by Ron Filion, with some
fascinating information). When you get to Ron's page select "CITY STREET
GUIDE 1910". You will find DE LONG STREET listed and learn it's location...

Hope this helps a little...

RUTH
