I was asked recently, by my elderly parents, to try to locate a man whom
they had befriended while he was in the army, stationed near our home. At
some point, after his return from Vietnam, he left some personal items with
them for safekeeping. It has been a number of years since they heard from
him. The last time he called, many years ago, was from California.

On a chance, since I had his Social Security number, I entered it in to the
SS Death Index, where, sadly I found him. He also appears on the California
Death Index. I really don't need a copy of his death certificate, but my
mom would very much like to know how he came to die so young. If someone
could look up his death certificate for us and find out what it says about
him, she could stop worrying about it.

Death Index gives his mother's maiden name as Keating.
