I am helping with the 1903 Directory Transcription project and one entry
said Call for CHUTES. I had no idea what Chutes was until this discussion
began. You learn something new every day!

I encourage everyone to volunteer to help Ron Filion with the transcription
project if you have time. It has given me a real feel for what life was like
in SF in 1903. Interesting businesses, like Occultists, stables on Golden
Gate Ave. (and lots of saloons!)

Thanks all for the feedback and pictures. It's amazing what we can dig out
when we put our heads together. It's great to have a city with such a rich
history.
