The United States Coast Pilot, 1943, has this to say about the creek.

Islais Creek, just southward of Potrero Point, has been improved by dredging
and there was 33.5 feet entrance channel with depths of 30 feet along the
wharves in 1933. The project depth for the channel is 35 feet.

In the 1950s I was a radio op on the SS President Pierce and we picked up
copra, (crushed coconut), in the Philippines and brought it back to SF.
We unloaded it at plant on Islais Creek near Third St.
Copra has a distinctive smell and lots of small flying bugs.
Bill
ps we pronounced it "Is lee is."
