CA.D.I., stands for the California Death Index, there are two types of it,
one from 1905 to 1939, which is on film, and on-line
http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/ watch for pop-up ads, and the 1940 to 1997 on

Thanks George for the information. My Patrick Cunniff died in 1890, but
it's possible that there is a family tie with this one.
What is C.A.D.I. I noticed that you referred James to it the other day.
Again my thanks.

I'm must apologize for not sending this sooner. Somehow or other it
ended up in my deleted box, rather than my send box. I do appreciate your
research.

Found a Patrick J. Conniff, in the 1902 San Francisco City Directory,
living at 54 Clara, and was a laborer.

My grandmother died August 7, 1902, shortly after the birth of my
father. In
searching for records of her death in San Francisco Co., and
Sacramento, I
was told that they were destroyed. Holy Cross Cemetery found no
record of
her burial. After 15 years of research, I found it in the San
Francisco
Vital Statistic Records in Salt Lake City. It showed that she was
buried at
Holy Cross Cemetery. With my new information, I went to Holy Cross
and they
found her record. They had mistakenly spelled her name as Reilliey
instead
of Riley. Who could have guessed. Lesson here is to check other
spellings.
Now we had a new mystery. Mary is buried in the Cunniff plot with
Catherine
and Patrick Cunniff (also spelled Conniff), and Catherine Agnes
Kelleher. I
don't know who these people are. In her obituary, Catherine Kelleher
is
identified as the daughter of P! ! atrick and Ellen Kelleher. She
lived at 104 B
West Mission St., with John Riley, my grandfather, following Mary's
death. I
wonder if Mary and Catherine could be sisters. This would give me a
link to
my great grandparents.
Oh, to confuse matters even more, John Riley married a second time
to...you
guessed it a woman named Mary. Mary #2 is buried at Holy Cross
Cemetery with
John.
Does anyone have any suggestions on further research that I might
do?
