Hi Gaylord,

Trying to answer your query, I first thought of John Sutter who was in
Vancouver BC and then in the Sandwich Islands and Hawaii, then of course in
Sacramento, CA and such places. These were trading ventures rather than
cruises and that was earlier than your time frame. But still interesting as
there was ship traffic between our US West Coast and the Orient in the mid
1800's.

Then I went on a hunt of American President Lines and their predecessors - I
do think you will find this site very interesting and might even give you
something concrete to work on... searching for your devious lady..
