I did quite a bit of Research at Napa State Hospital until last year.
Medical Information can be obtained if you get a letter from your doctor
stating the information is needed for genetic purposes.
Otherwise, medical information is difficult and or impossible to get. More
easy to get if the patient died there as a death certificate would be available
and they are more inclined to give information regarding a death and or
burial. I only found two instances where they was no death certificate registered.
As in so many other things, a lot depends on who you contact. I would suggest
the Medical Records Department.

All graves and cremated remains were removed from the Hospital grounds in
1963 (date is approx.) and they were all put into a common grave at Napa Valley
Memorial Park Cemetery, 2383 Napa-Vallejo Hwy., Napa, CA 94558.
Although the grave does not have names on it the office of the cemetery does
have a list of who is in the common grave. About 5,000 remains are in that
grave. The list is not in Alphabetic order so it may take them some time (a
couple of days) to check for the name.
Don't give up hope at finding information at Napa State Hospital as I was
quite successful doing volunteer lookups (by phone) with that facility.
