There is a book called "The Pacific Coast League of the 1920's" by R Scott Mackey ISBN 0786400552. If you go to this web site http://www.worldcatlibraries.org/wcpa/ow/14654f9cbe9bdd88a19afeb4da09e526.html

you can put in your zip code and find out which library has it. Jeanine

Can anyone recommend a resource for info on 1890's SF baseball teams in the Pacific League? I had a gr gr grandfather, William Allen, who played catcher for the E.T. Allen team in 1890.

Someone kindly looked up an old photo I had in the Chronicle so I now have a caption to go with the team photo I had and one day I hope to get to an old Chronicle resource myself and try to "follow" the team a bit in the sports pages and see what I can find.

In the meantime though I've checked many resources on-line and find nothing about early SF baseball unless it was a major league team. I'm also trying to trace E.T. Allen, who I believe was the team sponsor and in the photograph with the team but I'm not having much luck. Would love to find descendants who might know of the team too!

Thanks so much.
