Thanks for sending this, Ruth. It's interesting that it's online location
is on the Shasta County website!
Your posting reminded me that I have a black & white map c. 1955 from the
San Francisco Bay Area Council (an economic development group) hanging on
the wall of my hobby room. It's way too large to scan but I thought the
names of some additional extinct "towns" around the Bay Area might be
helpful to someone.
San Francisco: There is a district known as Apparel City north of
"Livestock Pavilion" (Cow Palace?) and west of Hunters Point.
Peninsula: Lomita Park - between San Bruno & Millbrae
Marin: Alto - between Mill Valley & Corte Madera
East Bay (north): Oleum & Selby - between Rodeo & Crockett
East Bay (south): Mt. Eden, Alvarado, Decoto, Centerville & Irvington -
between San Leandro & Newark
