Hi
Even though this bill has passed through all houses, Governor Davis has not
yet signed this bill. We expect this to happen within the next few weeks
or so... your continued support by contacting the Governor's Office with a
short note of support would be most appreciated.

For those unfamiliar with SB 1448, very briefly.. it covers the treatment
of State Hospital/Asylum cemeteries & how they are handled.
Prior to this law, it was considered an embarrasment to the deceased
patient & his/her family to have names on the graves. Instead, small
markers (Stockton's were wood). The markers had case numbers, with the
patient information available only upon request. Now the records
containing information on these cemeteries are included in the archives of
California... and deemed medical records, thus private.
This bill allows for the restoration & naming of each grave. This will NOT
be done at taxpayer expense. Please go to:

HISTORY
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_1401-1450/sb_1448_bill_20020813_h

and read the History of this bill, and then, please let Governor Davis
know you support it's signing.

Thanks
Marge
