Russ;
I know that we have shared emails before on common heritage. I was searching the web today and stumbled onto this post. I thought that I would add my inquiry to yours as well, just in case someone else surfing the web might find a geneological connection and some resource information.
I am looking for my Schneider relatives. My grandfather Karl K, came from Neuburg Russia and settled first in Goodrich N. Dakota. He had several brothers in Goodrich. I believe that the bothers were Christian, Henry (?), Jacob and Karl.
Karl's wife was Katherina Bitterman Schneider born in Eigenfled Russia. She and Karl were married in Russia and came over to the US through Ellis Island on Nov 17 1907. Their children from Russia included: Eva, Karl and Katherina. (I believe that Eva and Karl remainded in N. D.) Aunt Kate married (Dave Hein-sp?) and moved to Gazel California near Mt. Shasta. Born in ND were Rose (married and moved to Wolf Point Montana-Rudy Bareth-sp?), Kerry (my dad moved to Bremerton and married out here), Fred (stayed in N.D.), Ray (moved to Lodi worked as a dairy farmer and then carpenter his children were Earl & Susan ), Diena (moved to Lodi and married to a Case Tractor equipment salesman-Bill Knowel-sp?). Eventually, my grandparents moved out to Lodi where they are both burried.
A wedding gift to my wife and I was from a Mrs. Martha Schneider. I suspect that she was the wife of Karl Jr. or Fred, but don't know.
Based on information from Debi Curry (related to Christian Schneider of Goodrich ND and a brother of Karl's) their common father (my great grandfather) was a Frederick Schneider who died in Neuberg Russia.
Prior to being in Neuburg Russia, our common Schneider family clan likely came from Torschau, Hungary. The following article has 3 interesting pages of overview and discussion at the beginning of the newsletter on the mass migration to what was then Hungary for folks that ended up ultimately in Neuberg Russia

What is really interesting however, is the following villiage name index found on page 8 of 9, which has clues as to the "motherland" prior to Neuberg and prior to Hungary.

While I haven't studied the latest Hungary information in depth, I feel that there can't be that many Schneiders from Neuburg Russia.
Good luck on your search.
