I have an old map (1870 I think)... It shows where the land is located.
Jacob Peters owned land in the area.. the land you give coordinates for was
at the time of this map owned by James Smythe.
The property would be presently located on the southeast corner of Jack
Tone Road & Copperopolis Roads. To get there from Stockton..you go out East
Main Street which turns into Copperopolis Road. The home I sold in Stockton
is about 3 miles from this location. Peters Dump is there (or was... we
used to go with my dad all the time)

Is anyone familiar with the Copperopolis Road east of Stockton?

I am trying to locate a farmhouse built in 1881 by Michael Caricof. It lay
"eight miles east of Stockton," on the corner "of Murphy's Ferry and the
Copperopolis Road." (1882 description). In 1901 it was described as "near
Peters."

It can also be identified as the "West Half of the Northwest Quarter of
Section Six, Township One North of Range Eight East, M. D. B & M, lying
south of the Copperopolis Road."

An 1882 sketch of the farm can be seen at
http://americanart.si.edu/1001/2001/02/021501.html. In the background can be
seen the Southern Pacific Railroad, so I presume the farm lies close to the
point where the railway line crosses the Copperopolis Road.

The farmhouse was still standing in the 1960s. Does anyone know if it still
stands today? If so, does anyone know the current address?
