Ruth Cooper
Ruth C. Cooper, 95, of San Diego and formerly of Lodi, died March 2 in San Diego following complications of heart failure. She was born Ruth C. Clark on Oct. 17, 1909, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Mrs. Cooper moved to Lodi in 1949, and then to San Diego in 1990 to be near her daughter and family. She was employed by the San Joaquin Department of Public Assistance for 20 years as a social worker and supervisor. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was a Pink Lady at the Lodi Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of Friends Outside, Center of Hope, D.A.R., Valley Vagabonds, Woods Wonderers, and was a volunteer for the San Joaquin Honor farm.
She is survived by her sons, Robert T. Cooper, of Panama City, Fla., Peter C. Cooper, of Anacortes, Wash.; daughter, Lynn C. Thoza, of Coronado; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Cooper in 1965.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. April 15 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1055 S. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi, with Father Raymond Knapp officiating. Committal will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Building Fund.
