**4 Apr issue --
Born -- ROWE -- in Hollister, Mar. 31, to the wife of M.O. ROWE, a son.
Married -- SMITH-SPERBER -- at Hollister, Apr. 2, by Rev. J.W. BRYANT;
Mr. Geo. M. SMITH, of Madrone, Santa Clara county, and Mrs. Adah E.
SPERBER, of Santa Ana.

Born -- TONEY -- in Hollister, Apr. 6, to the wife of Chas. P. TONEY, a
son.
Died -- HOWARD -- at Yates Center, Kansas, Apr. 1, Dr. L.R. HOWARD, a
native of Ohio, aged 66 years.
Died -- MILLS --- at the County Hospital, Mar. 19m Samuel MILLS, a native
of Texas, aged 44 years.
Died -- HORN -- in Hollister, Apr. 9, Tommy, beloved son of Mr.&Mrs. John
HORN, a native of California, aged 3 years, 9 months, 11 days.
Coroner HOPCROFT was called to the New Idria mines last Tuesday to hold
an inquest on the body of Isaac BLOWN, who was accidentally killed the
day before. BLOWN had been working on the face of the mountain as a car
man at the time of the accident and was pushing a car along the track
when it left the rails and fell down a steep embankment pulling deceased
after it. When picked up a few moments later, BLOWN was dead, having
received internal injuries and also sustained a fracture of the skull.
Deceased was a native of Switzerland, aged 62 years.
The Board of Supervisors granted the petition of Coroner HOPCROFT last
Monday for the removal of the bodies of Owen, Roscoe and Lester INGLES to
Santa Clara county. The date of the deaths of the above were:
Owen INGELS, Feb. 22, 1879, of consumption, aged 22 years
Roscoe INGLES, June 15, 1887, vital wound, aged 20 years
Leslie INGELS, Dec. 8, 1891, acute bronchitis, aged 2 years.
The bodies will be interred in the family plot at San Jose near the body
of the late B.F. INGLES.

Married -- NUNEZ-MADERAS -- at Haywards, Apr. 14, D.T. NUNEZ to Mrs.
Maria MADERAS. [ The groom is one of our leading citizens and business
men and the bride is a respected and well-to-do resident of Haywards. The
happy couple arrived yesterday A reception was tendered them last evening
by immediate relatives. They will make their home in Hollister ]
Died -- FIGUEROA -- in Hollister, Apr. 15, Mrs. Santos Q. de FIGUEROA, a
native of Mexico, aged 65 years, 5 mos. [ a sister of Mrs. E.C. TULLY and
F.Q. ALVAREZ, of Bitterwater, died at her home on Sally street last
Tuesday evening.]
Died -- BEEVERS -- in Salinas City, Apr. 14, Robert Lee BEEVERS, a native
of Santa Cruz, aged 35 years, 6 mos., 5 days.
Coroner HOPCROFT was called to the Topo Ranch, Wednesday, to hold an
inquest on the body of D.C. ALVARES. The remains were found by the side
of the county road, but no particulars in regard to his death had been
received up to the time we went to press. ALVARES had been a resident of
that section for many years.
Fred L. RAMONI, formerly of this county, was married recently at Berkeley
to Mrs. Cora WALKER, of Stege, an estimable young lady of that place.
Fred has a good position on the city front, at San Francisco, and is an
industrious and deserving young man.
>From the Pacific Grove Review -- Milton SHERWOOD died at his home in
this city on Friday afternoon of last week, aged 71 years. Deceased had
been in poor health for some time past, but had been confined to his bed
for only about 2 weeks. He had been a resident of the Grove for 15 years,
and was a citizen who enjoyed the respect and esteem of the entire
community. He leaves a wife and 3 daughters and 3 sons to mourn his loss
-- Mrs. Wm. MUIRHEAD of Illinois; Mrs. J.A. WARNOCK of San Juan; Miss
Maud SHERWOOD of this city, D.H. SHERWOOD of Elk Grove, Sacramento
county; S.P. SHERWOOD of Calistoga; and L.B. SHERWOOD of this city.
The family of the late F.M. NOBLE hereby tender their sincere thanks to
the many friends who so kindly tendered their services during their late
bereavement.
The final account of the estate of Antonio RUEZ, deceased, has been filed
in the Superior Court.
A marriage license was issued in San Francisco, last Monday, to Al. KUHN
to wed Lena TAIX, both of San Juan.
Joseph PARKER, administrator of the estate of Edward PARKER, deceased,
will sell at public auction, at Hodges stable, on May 3rd, the personal
property belonging to the estate of said deceased.

Married -- WORLEY-BOTTAZZINI -- in San Francisco, Apr. 19, by Rev. John
A.B. WILSON; Hulett C. WORLEY, of Hollister, to Alice M. BOTTAZZINI, of
San Francisco.
Married -- JOSEPH-DeROZA -- at the Catholic Church, Hollister, Apr. 23,
by Father B. SMYTH; Manuel JOSEPH to Miss Mary DeROZA. [ After the
ceremony the happy couple left on the train for Santa Cruz, where they
will spend the honeymoon. The groom is one of our prominent Portuguese
citizens and the bride is a daughter of Mrs. P. DeROZA, and an amiable
and accomplished young lady ]
Died -- LABORDE -- at San Felipe, Apr. 18, Mrs. Dolores LABORDE, aged 55
years.
Died -- INGE at Los Angeles, Apr. 20, Mrs. Louisa INGE, a native of
California, aged 33 years, 2 mos., wife of A.B. INGE, sister of Mrs.
Henry AGNEW and Miss Grace GALLAGHER. [Death of a Former Resident -- The
funeral of Mrs. Louisa INGE, who died in Los Angeles last Saturday, Apr.
19th, took place from the Catholic Church here, Tuesday, and the remains
were interred in the Catholic Cemetery. Deceased was 33 years of age and
a former resident of this county, where her early childhood was passed.
She had been in ill health for several years past and the ultimate cause
of her death was consumption. She was the 2nd daughter of the late
Patrick GALLAGHER, and a sister of Mrs. H.D. AGNEW, Mrs. Kate MALLORY and
Misses Grace, Belle and Lena GALLGHER. Besides her sister, she leaves a
husband and 4 little children to mourn her loss. The sympathy of the
community is extended to the bereaved family.]
Died -- SILVERA -- near San Juan, Apr. 21, Laura SILVERA, a native of
California, aged 10 years, 4 mos. [At the residence of Manuel SILVERA,
near San Juan, diphtheria developed itself last week with the result that
a daughter died last Monday and another child is affected placed a
quarantine on the house.]
Chas. SCHULER, a native of Switzerland, and a recent inmate of the County
Hospital, was found dead near the depot last Saturday morning. Coroner
HOPCROFT held an inquest and at which it developed that he came to his
death by a dose of strychnine, self administered. He was about 60 years
of age and a stranger in this vicinity.
D.D. WILLIAMS, husband of Mrs. Lulu WILLIAMS, the eldest daughter of
Henderson BROWN, died at Stockton last Wednesday. The deceased had been
troubled with dropsy for some months past, which was the immediate cause
of his death. Mr. BROWN and his son William left yesterday for Stockton
to attend the obsequies.
The widow of the one-time robber bandit, Joaquin MURIETTA, was killed by
a train last week. The accident occurred about 4 miles north of Hanford.
The woman was crossing the track when the Santa Fe limited struck her.
Ever since her outlaw husband was killed in a fight with the authorities
at Joaquin Rocks in 1865, she has been living in a little cabin on the
banks of Kings river. There hangs a picture of Joaquin MURIETTA, and by
his side one of VASQUEZ, the bandit who was hanged in the county jail at
San Jose in 1880. Mrs. MURIETTA was 70 years old.
The marriage of Huelett C. WORLEY, of Hollister, and Miss Alice M.
BOTTAZZINI, of San Francisco, was solemnized at the latter place last
Saturday. Mr.&Mrs. WORLEY arrived last Monday and will make their home in
Hollister.
Jesus L. REINOSA, administrator of the estate of Jesus REINOSA, deceased,
has petitioned the Superior Court for an order of sale of certain
personal property of said estate alleged to be perishable and of the
value of $1457.
