Hi, Ron. I don't quite understand your post. Did George William RENNIE remain in NSW, or did he return to the US?

Where is San Juan?

Only two RENNIEs show up in the 1860 census for San Francisco:

There are no RENNIE listings for San Francisco in 1870.

In the 1920 census, I find a George W. Rennie living in San Francisco with his in-laws:
