S.J. Native V.E. Pinard Dies at 80

Vivian E. Pinard, a native San Josean and member of an early-day Santa
Clara Valley family, died Sunday at a San Jose convalescent home after
a lengthy illness. He was 80.

Pinard was a long-time superintendent of the old Richmond-Chase Canning
Co. before his retirement 15 years ago. Before that he had held similar
positions with U.S. Products and CPC packing companaies.

Pinard's father came to San Jose as a boy in the 1850's and was a banker
here for many years before his death in 1938.

Pinard's cousins, Joseph and Antone, at one time owned Pinard's island,
so named because it was surrounded by incorporated San Jose. They fought
annexation for years.

Pinard's wife Frieda, died in 1972. They had no children but surviving
nieces and nephews include Irving and Claire Normandin and Fritz Linquist,
all of San Jose, George Pinard of Santa Clara and Phyllis Muller of Fremont.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of
Flowers with interment following at Oak Hill memorial Park. The Rosary
will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

The family suggest memorial contributions to any favorite charity.

PINARD, Vivian E. - In San Jose, Calif., April 21, 1974, Vivian E. Pinard,
loving husband of the late Frieda Pinard. Dear uncle of George Pinard of
Santa Clara, Irving and Claire Normandin and Fritz Lundquist, all of San
Jose, and Phyllis Muller of Fremont. A native of San Jose. Age 80 years.

Funeral services Tuesday, April 23, 1974 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Flowers
(Denegri-Geoffroy-Origlia & Salmon) 900 S. 2nd St. Recitation of the Rosary
Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the Chapel of Flowers. Contributions to
your favorite charity apprciated.
