Funeral Services Set Tomorrow For Ernest Held

Funeral services for the late Ernest R. Held, 62, of 1157 Singletary avenue, resident of San Jose for 24 years, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Roger Darling chapel, with the Reverend Darling officiating.

In failing health for two years, Held was taken to San Jose hospital Wednesday and died there Friday night of bronchial pneumonia and complications.

Held was born in Oakland and came to San Jose in 1916. Known to a wide circle of valley businessmen as "Heine" Held, he represented the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet company in this district for nearly 28 years. He retired two years ago because of ill health.

Held leaves a wife, Mrs. Alice Scott Held; two sons, Scott Held of San Francisco, former well known orchestra leader now affiliated with United Airlines, and Creston Held of San Jose, and a sister, Miss Doris Schneider of Oakland.

Burial will be made in Oak Hill Memorial park.

HELD - In San Jose, Calif., April 5, 1940, Ernest Reeves Held, beloved husband of Alice Scott Held; devoted father of Creston Ernest and Scott Reeves Held, San Jose, and brother of Mrs. Dora Schneider, Oakland; a native of Oakland, aged 62 years.

Friends are invited to attend the services Monday, April 8, 1940, at 2 o'clock p.m. from the Roger Darling Garden Chapel, 471 East Santa Clara Street, near Tenth, thence to oak Hill Memorial Park for interment.
