Millard Burns

Millard Fillmore Burns, World War I veteran, died this morning at Palo Alto Hospital following a brief illness. He has resided for two years at 237 Topaz St., after retiring as a school teacher. He has recently been employed at Western Pipe & Steel Co.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Della M. Burns, and daughters, Mrs. Juanita Newton, Mrs. Irene McGee of Oklahoma, Billye, Jo Ann, and Mitzi Burns, and sons, H.C. Burns, and Millard Burns Jr. of San Mateo.

He was born in Arkansas 57 years ago. Mr. Burns was a member of Steel-Turner Post 98 of the American Legion, Oilton, Okla.

Funeral services will be announced later.

Burns; loving father of Mrs. Juanita Newton, Mrs. Irene McGee, Billye, Jo Ann, Mitzi, H.C. and Millard F. Burns Jr.; grandfather of Jeane Lynn and Ireta June Newton; Sheril L. and Jacqueline S. Burns; and brother of Mrs. Martha Lewis, Mrs. Nettie Asher and McKinley Burns. A native of Arkansas, aged 57 years. A member of Steel-Turner Post 98, American Legion of Oilton, Okla.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Layng & Tinney Funeral Home Friday at 1 p.m. Interment, Golden Gate National Cemetery.
