Hi,

The Joubert family had the births registered at the French Consulate in 1881, presumably just before or after they left. The birth certificates were then copied in the town where the family was from and that's how their descendants were able to get informations on those births.

His grandmother was Mathilde Victorine, born 8/21/1667 in Downieville, baptized at the Downieville Catholic Church on 6/11/1868. Her parent were Jacob (or Jacques or Jean-Jacques) Joubert, and her mother Lea Francoise Josephine Bellu

He would like to know whether there are any other Joubert in the area at the time, and what their relations would be. There should be two other births of girls from the same parents according to what he found in the French records. I have found on some Sierra County web site a Fred Joubert, landowner, and he says a Victor Joubert is cited as witnesses. Were those family members? Did they stay in California? Mr. Philip is very interested to find out when and by what route they came, what they did in Sierra County, and when they left. It may be difficult to find that, but any clue would be welcome.

I will be glad to reimburse you for any copies you might have to make. Thank you very much for any help you might be able to give him.

Sincerely,

Fabienne
