I have ancestors named Davis in that area, however, I know they are from the Kentucky and Missourri area. I don't believe they ever made any money mining but, the lumber business and agriculture were also booming directly following the goldrush. Many immigrants from South America and Europe flocked to California for cheap land, dairy, and lumber, especially in Sierra and Plumas county.
