Sonoma County searchers should know about the Sonoma County Query Forum and
other features available through the USGenWeb project. The local volunteer
coordinator is Lewis Ruddick, who maintains this valuable resource for
those tracing their roots in Sonoma County. While the mail list you're
using to read this post has the advantage of quick and easy posting and
response, the great value of the query forum is that material stays there,
archived, and can be referred to weeks or months later. As pieces of the
genealogy puzzle fall into place, this ability to go back and scan previous
posts is especially valuable.
