Dear Margaret:
I am sor sorry that my excitment caused me to post my first message and call you Mary. I had not printed your information out and thus I had not had all my facts in order.
I still feel we are on the right track and I will give you the information as I have it. First I learned of Salina from her daughter my grandmother Aususta Alberta Ramsey Sperber born 1890 to Salina Salone or Salome Ramsey and Fredrick Sperber in Holister,San Benito Co. California. She married Bernard Eggink (of the Netherlands) in California. Her first born son Bernard Francis Eggink was my father.
My Grandmother knew very little about her mothers side of the family. She told me her mother died in 1896 after giving birth to her baby sister Loree Antonite. She said her grandfather was Gardner Ramsey and her grandmother was Mary. Some where I thought it was Mary Jane Lowe but that does not prove out; The Mary A. does when I found the 1870 Sonoma Calif (Salt Point) census. And the marriage information found in Illinois the birth states of both Gardner and Mary match the 1870 census information. Grandmother also spoke of the Battle of San Jacinto (SP) in war with Mexico and Texas and mention about the Tennesee Volunteers. That story may be proven by your information. I do so feel we are on the right track, especially because of your mention of the Mexican War.
The children of Gardner as I have it from Grandmother are the same as on the first census. Jane born in Illinos( could have be Lavina Jane), Emily born Illinos, Laqunice ( could be your Lugumeyborn 1856 Missouri , Augustius born about 1864 Calif, (Salina born about 1867 Calif., my Grandmother. ) Susan
