Hi Kristie,

I have some more pages to mail you. They will go out tomorrow. They are
from the book

"FROM AMBER GRAIN TO FRUITED PLAIN" A History of Ceres CA and It's
Surroundings 1776-1976, Mildred O. Lucas

There's even a picture of Archie as a young boy.

Also the death announcement of Emma. Could not find any coverage of the
funeral in the newspaper.

Turns out that Nancy Connor is Joseph's mother-in-law but from his first
wife, Emma A. Conner. So Emma wasn't a sister but his first wife.

>From early marriages Vol II, page 407
Joseph McNeil, age 37, resident of Ceres, born Missouri
Emily A. Conner, age 28, resident of Ceres, born Arkansas
date of marriage Sept. 30, 1888
witnesses: D. Whitmore, J. C. Annear, both of Ceres

Could not find a marriage on Sarah and Joseph in Stanislaus records. I've
asked a fellow researcher to check in El Dorado county which is where she
was born.

Early Stanislaus directories:
1878
no listing for Ceres in the directory
1881
Mrs. Nancy Conner
Joseph McNiel, miner
1884-1885
Miss Emma A. Conner
Mrs. Nancy Conner, proprietor, Ceres Hotel
Joseph McNeil, mgr. The Grange Co. warehouse
1890 business directory
Mrs. A. Conner, hotel, Ceres
1893 business directory Ceres
Mrs. N. Conner, proprietor Ceres Hotel
1893
Mrs. Nancy Conner, proprietor, Ceres Hotel
Joseph McNeil, farmer
Joseph McNeil, mgr hotel & The Grange Co.
1910
Mrs. Nancy Conner (Ceres Hotel)
Mrs. Sarah A. McNeil (Ceres Hotel)

A fellow researcher found an obit on Sarah:
In Fresno, Oct 7 1944, Sarah Ann McNEIL, native of Eldorado County CA, aged
83 years; loving mother of A. M.McNEIL of Modesto, sister of Mrs. Eva
RIGHTMIER of Fresno, Mrs. Lillian HILL of San Francisco, cousin of W. O.
MILES and Ida M. MILES of Fresno. Lisle Funeral Home. Oct 10 1944. Interment
IOOF Modesto.

maybe a husband of Eva's
RIGHTMIER JAMES LAWRENCE
09/25/1875
mother's maiden name WELCH
RIGHTMIER 1CA died Fresno 01/09/1945 age
69

RIGHTMIER EVA B
09/25/1871 mother's maiden name MILLER

died Madera county 03/11/1960 age 88

HILL LILLIAN ELIZABETH
03/28/1860 MILLER
MILES 2CA died Madera 03/15/1950 age

here's a birth
RIGHTMIER,BURRELL, ,06/02/1906,MALE,RIGHTMIE,STANISLAUS

Looked at the cemetery book for Ceres Cemetery and it turns out that Nancy
Conners, born 1836, died March 23, 1918 is buried in Sec. A Tr 14/ grave unk
and then the comment says Connor burial permit Connors Stone 1919 I have no
idea what that means but she is buried in the same Sec. and Tier as Emma
McNeil. And that's why her obit didn't list a survivor of Sarah because
they weren't related. My notes say she (Nancy) was a resident of CA for 40
years and survived by numerous nieces and nephews, age 82.
