MUSICIAN OBERT DIES
Final rites will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday at Franklin & Downs Colonial
Chapel for Roland Graham Obert, 68, who collapsed and died in a shower
Friday morning at the Modesto Junior College after attending a two-hour
exercise class.
Obert had undergone triple bypass heart surgery a year and a half ago at
Stanford Hospital.
Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park.
A native of Nebraska, Mr. Obert had been a Modesto resident since 1928.
He had been a member of the Modesto Symphony Orchestra 38 years, managing
the group from 1973 to 1976.
He was a former music teacher in Stanislaus and San Joaquin County schools,
was a consultant for Instrumental Music of Stanislaus, life member of California
Teacher Association and Retired Teacher Association, Caritas Lodge, Modesto
Senior Citizens, Chamber Music Society and the First Methodist Church.
He leaves his wife, Florence of Modesto; daughter, Barbara Hamilton of
Colorado; son, Dr. Steven Obert of Ohio, and two grandchildren.
