Robert S. Irelan, Sr., 71, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital following a lingering illness.

Born in Dunkirk, Ind., he moved to Roscoe, Calif. in 1925 making his home there until coming to Turlock in 1947. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.

Surivvors include his wife, Mary of Turlock; two sons, Robert S. Irelan, Jr., and Joseph H. Irelan, both of Turlock; two daughters, Francis Borgman of Turlock and Charlotte Conyers of Granada Hills; one sister, Blanche King of San Fernando; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Norton Mortuary, with the Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. Interment will follow at the Turlock Memorial Park.
