Does anyone have any idea how I can obtain an obit from 1999? California changed there laws to obtain death certificates in January and its next to impossible to get a death certificate. I am researching my ancestors that lived in Modesto, CA. I live in Maryland. My ancestors name was Mardis C. Compton. He was born on August 11, 1914 and died on September 17, 1999 in Modesto. I tried the archives for the Modesto Bee online, but their obits don't go back to 1999. I am hoping to find his place of burial if not his parents. The cemetery should have that info. Thanks for any help.
