Ray Persson, Former Turlocker, Succumbs

A memorial service for Ray Persson, an early member of the Turlock Methodist Church, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Turlock. Mrs. Persson, 86, died early today in a Modesto hospital after an extended illness.

Born in Kearney, Nebr., she lived in Canon City and Colorado Springs, Colo. before coming with her parents to Turlock in 1912.

Mrs. Persson was married to Clarence E. Persson in 1922 and lived in Turlock until a few years ago when they moved to Stockton. She is survived by her husband, a brother, Roy E. Weaver, her daughter, Carolyn Osterholm, and five grandchildren.

She held memberships in Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and was a charter member of the Turlock AAUW and the Tuesday Reading Club. She also belonged to the Chapter BY of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and was an early member of the Turlock Methodist Church where she still kept her membership.

The family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the American Can Society or any favorite charity.
