A review of the records at the Oakdale Museum produced the following obits:
Oakdale Leader January 10, 1952
RAY SCHMIEDLIN
Funeral services were held for Raymond Leo Schmiedlin, 31, last Saturday morning.
The deceased had passed away the previous Wednesday evening, while enroute
to the Oak Knoll Hospital.
Schmiedlin was the son of Mr. And Mrs. Nels Schmiedlin of this city. He is
survived by his parents; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hirseland and a brother, Clarence
Schmiedlin, both of Oakdale.
A member of the Oakdale Veterans of Foreign Wars, Raymond had served in the
Army Air Forces during World War II.
Father Frederick Cook of the St. Marys Catholic Church officiated at the services,
which were held from Pascoes Mortuary. Interment was in Citizens Cemetery,
Oakdale.
KATE SCHMIEDLIN
Monday, January 28th, saw the passing of one of Oakdales well known residents,
Mrs. Kate Schmiedlin. Mrs. Schmiedlin passed away at her home after an extended
illness, at 50 years of age.
A member of the Native Daughters of the golden West, and the Neighbors of Woodcraft,
the deceased participated in many community activities. She was a native of
Oakdale.
Mrs. Schmiedlin is survived by her husband, Nelson Schmiedlin; one daughter
and one son, Mrs. Hirseland and Clarence Schmiedlin, both of Oakdale; a sister
Mrs. Rose Marchetti of Oakdale; and three brothers, James and Thomas Breunig
of Modesto and John Breunig of Orinda. One grandchild is also a member of the
surviving family.
Mrs. Schmiedlin was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, who passed away on
the 2nd of January.
Funeral services were held this morning at Pascoes Mortuary at 9:30 a.m. This
was followed by a Mass which was said at the St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church
at 10:00 a.m. Rosary services were held yesterday evening at the mortuary.
Interment is in the Citizens Cemetery, Oakdale.
Mrs. Schmiedlin had been employed at various grocery stores in the area. Her
most recent employment was at Piggs Food Market. Nelson Schmiedlin operates
the Union Oil Service on Yosemite and F Streets.

CLARENCE SCHMIEDLIN
The rosary was recited Friday night in the Oakdale Memorial Chapel for Clarence
Schmiedlin, 53, who died Wednesday in a Modesto hospital.
A requiem mass was said Saturday morning in St. Marys Catholic Church followed
by burial in the Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
A native of Oakdale, Mr. Schmiedlin was a lifetime resident here except for
a time in the U.S. Navy. He was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl
Harbor and was a member of the Oakdale Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Schmiedlins only family survivor is his sister, Margaret Hirseland of Oakdale.
The obit for Nelson Schmiedlin will be forwarded next week as the microfilm
roll of that newspaper is currently on loan.
