Pat you are a saint!!!!!!! Here is what I know of the Howard Family, just in case, you ever have to do this again.
(George) Washington Howard and Sarah DeWitt were married in Greene County, Tennessee in 1838. They must have been traveler, because in 1840 I found them in Buncombe County (Ashville area) of North Carolina. (By the way, Sarah was born in Tennessee).
I have never found them in 1850, and by 1860 Washington is dead and Sarah is raising seven children, two boys and five girls in Greene County, Tennessee near here parents. All of the children marry from 1862 until 1870.
Abijah's brother, Ezekiel had joined the Union Army with Abijah and he died four months later after getting diarrhea leaving one son he had never seen. It is Ezekiel that is my great great grandfather.
My mother has Alzemher's and it has been my quest to find out about the Howard family before she dies. My grandfather died in 1945 before I was born, so basicly I knew nothing six months ago....but you have helped me so much you can not ever know....Thank you.....Elaine Joyce Day
