Your mention of Marvin Morris and Modesto intrigued me. I have a close friend, Joseph Newton Morris (Jay), who is interested in knowing more about his family history on the Morris side.

Jay's father was Newt Morris (likely full name was Joseph Newton Morris) and Jay's grandfather's name was Marvin Morris. That is about all he knows other than he believes his dad started out in or near Modesto.

The 1939 birthdate for your Marvin is too late to be the same but I wonder if yours could be a son or nephew of Jay's Marvin. Jay is 62, so likely his Marvin would have been born very late 1800's or so.

Thanks for any help - Jay would be thrilled to learn more (but doesn't use gen boards).
