There are many, many names on the disks that are filled in in with question
marks because they were illegible to the transcriber (example: K???, C.).
As you can see, this could have been your
Clara.

Hi Sandra,
Does this mean there actually was an entry K???, C. ? Maybe I'm grasping at
straws, but it is the first clue I've had. My grandfather was born February
1847, so he would have been 32 in 1879, not 31. Also I know his middle name
> did begin with C, but Ch sounds like Charles, and I never saw anything
more than C. He had a son John C. Dietrich Jr. also. I wish there was a
German port of embarkation given. I assume the CD you have is the Germans
to America CD? I've been wanting to order that, and I guess I will now.
Can I order the manifest page from NARA online? I will check out their
page. Thanks again,
Ruth

Hi Ruth,
Sorry to get your hopes up. I was just trying to choose a good example for
you. The disks are worth the $60 apiece... especially if you are
researching several in that time frame. You might want to check out these
web sites for your research also:
