Jacob Rhyne aka Rein aka Reineau, a prominant pioneer of Lincoln-Gaston
Counties had a cousin Johan Philip Jacob Hoos aka Jacob Hose, b. 1713.
These two lived in York Co. PA in the mid-1700s. Jacob Hose married three
times. After 1768, Jacob Rhyne came south with his brother-in-law Felix
Clodfelter. Felix purchased for Jacob Rhyne his first tract of land.
Jacob's sister-in-law Elizabeth Rhyne (widow of Martin Rhyne, father of
Thomas (the saddler)) had already purcahsed land in the area from her brother
Philip Jacob Rudisill in 1764. "Our Kin" lists this Elizabeth as wife of
Jacob Rhyne incorrectly. The above Jacob Hose, cousin of Jacob Rhyne stood
as witness at the baptism of one of Jacob's children in York, PA. Is it
possible that Jacob Hose had a son Jacob Hose who came south to his
cousins????
